Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use stone veneer over natural stone?

Stone veneer is a man made product that is strong, lighter, and much less expensive while providing the same natural stone look.

Can I buy just the stone?

Yes. We can provide you with just the stone and give you tips on the install if you want to tackle your project on your own.

Will you install the stone veneer?

Yes. We have very skilled crews that will do a fantastic job installing your stone and bringing your vision to life.

Can you get a certain color of stone in a different shape than shown on display or in the catalog?

Yes.  You can order almost any stone in any shape and color or do a custom blend. Click to learn more about our custom blends.

How long does it take for the install after I make my selection?

We can schedule your project for 4-6 weeks out and stay on the project until it’s completed.

How is the stone veneer made?

Centurion Stone Products are made from castings of natural stones. Centurion combines Lightweight aggregate, Portland Cement, and Natural iron oxide pigments. The pigments are absorbed into the basemix and become an integral part of the veneer, similar to natural stone. An overlay of facial pigments help to create the appearance of natural stone.

Building Code requirements?

Centurion Stone meets or exceeds the code requirements for ICC ES standards. Numerous tests were performed on the products to qualify for the AC-51 testing acceptance.

What are the main differences between manufactured stone veneer and natural stones?

Molds are cast from select pieces of natural stone capturing the details of the stone. The cast pieces are lighter in weight which require no support footings, ties or lintels for support. Manufactured stone veneer can be adhered to surfaces that natural stone installations would be very costly to achieve. Usually manufactured stone is 30% to 50% of the installed cost of natural stone.  Architects and designers prefer manufactured stone veneer to achieve color consistency as well as versatility of installation.

What are the main project features?

Thickness: 1” – 3”. Weight: 7.5 to 12 lbs. a sq. foot Packaging: Cardboard Containers for easy shipping and handling.  Over 40+ patterns and hundreds of color combinations! Click to learn more about our custom blend options.

Yes, but not in the fire box area.

Can Centurion Stone be used behind a wood burning stove?

Yes, the stove manufacturer clearances for combustible wall dimensions must be maintained.

Are there temperature conditions that the stone veneer should be installed within?

Yes, cold weather ambient temperature should be 40°F or higher. Hot weather conditions above 90° should be installed per section 2104.4 of the IBC.
